Description

This is the FIRST book in the Joe Tyler series.

If someone took your child, how soon would you stop looking for her? If someone accused your best friend of a terrible crime, when would you stop defending him?

Seven years after Joe Tyler's daughter Elizabeth was abducted, he hasn't stopped looking for answers, and he hasn't forgotten the friend who stood by him as he lost his wife, his home, and his career in his search. Now he's been brought back to San Diego by the news that this friend has been arrested for beating up a teenage girl—a girl not much older than Elizabeth would be now.
Joe is convinced Chuck Winslow is innocent, but Chuck is in a coma and can't explain what happened. And the more Joe hears about what Chuck's been up to in the years he's been gone, the less Joe recognizes his old friend. To find out the truth, he will have to face his ex-wife, his former bosses, and a hometown full of wealth, lies, and illicit privilege. When Chuck's accuser goes missing, Joe must decide where his loyalties truly lie.

Jeff Shelby is the best-selling author of The Noah Braddock series (Killer Swell, Wicked Break and Liquid Smoke) and has been compared by reviewers to Harlan Coben and Robert Crais. In Thread of Hope, he delivers a gut-wrenching tale of painful secrets and even more devastating truths as well as an exploration of how a single thread of hope can keep one man going.

Great read, interesting characters, clean language, no raunchy sex. Really just a good plausible mystery with wonderful editing.

He’s a good writer. Too bad he has to alienate Christians by using our Savior as a worthless exclamation that was totally unnecessary and unfortunate. I won’t be reading anything else of his and it really is a pity. I don’t understand why writers alienate readers like that. I would have probably have bought all his books but I cannot in good conscious do so.

Good story that turns into a page turner. Far from a literary masterpiece but interesting enough to keep reading and to enjoy. Good guys versus bad guys with some twists to keep it from being obvious. The story has heart and I believe the series has a future.

Read it through in one sitting. That says a lot. Nice character development. Great cast of characters. Great story with red herrings and surprise ending. Captures emotions superbly, the kind that are so deep and painful people find it hard, if not impossible, to talk about. Respectful in sparing readers from unnecessary foul language and other writing tricks to make up for lack of tension and good storyline. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

Very well written book with a nice flow. The characters are believable although the story line is a bit rough and not for the faint of heart. I would recommend to anyone who loves a good detective story!
