I want to point out how amazing it was as an author of sci-fi novels, to see how much George Lucas took from Dune. I have been inspired by Star Wars to write stories of my own and now I have read what inspired Lucas. However, after reading the unknown sci-fi grandfather of my novels, I do ask myself this question; (although I already know the answer to it) “Which story of my heritage is greater?” -Thoughts of “James Gilliland” a lesser of the novel houses

Great book even greater movie. Watching the movie helped me visualize a lot of this and made the book so much more enjoyable. I would recommend this book to anyone e who enjoys the movies but could understand how it might be difficult at first to imagine this world without seeing the movie first.

I read this book to answer some questions I had about the movies and it answered all of them in an entertaining way. I strongly urge anyone curious about the world of Dune to pick the book up. A great story, I am eager to see what happens next.

It’s hard to judge without comparing to the movie, I think the story is compelling but I wish there was more development for some relationships.

As we all know from the movies, Dune is an amazingly detailed and rich sci fi series. The first book is THICK and rightfully so. You need to be whole heartedly into it to get through some of the slow stuff, but the pay off is well worth it. Amazing first book that leads so well into the second.
