Description

In one century she loved him madly, and in another she wants nothing to do with him

In 1844 Ireland, Liam O’Connor, a rogue and a thief, fell madly in love with a squire’s daughter and unwittingly altered the future. Shy and naive Cora McLeod thought Liam was the answer to her prayers. But the angels disagreed and they’ve been waiting for the right moment in time to step in.

Now Liam finds himself reunited with his beloved Cora in Providence Falls, North Carolina. The angels have given Liam a task. He must make sure Cora falls in love with another man—the one she was supposed to marry before Liam interfered. But this Cora is very different from the innocent girl who fell for Liam in the past. She’s a cop and has a confidence and independence he wasn’t expecting. She doesn’t remember Liam or their past lives, nor is she impressed with his attempts to guide her in any way.

Liam wants Cora for himself, but with his soul hanging in the balance, he must choose between a stolen moment in time or an eternity of damnation.

It could have been an interesting story, but the plot was full of holes. The story completely lost me when the protagonist (a police officer) needed an alibi from a man who he saved from a robbery at an ATM. Never found the man, no mention that the police could have checked transactions at the ATM and checked the video from the ATM. Lots of other weak plot lines even before that.

Wow - talk about disappointing. Here I am reading an enjoyable story with interesting characters when suddenly it takes an abrupt detour leaving main parts of the plot unanswered, and huge gaps in the storyline. Who thought this was an ending??? I have never felt so disappointed with an ending , and an author’s inability to complete storyline. I looked and found no information of a sequel. Very disappointed. Don’t read if you like to see your characters resolve their issues or if you like to know how their lives turn out - you will not be satisfied with this book.

I love Jude Deveraux, and have read EVERY book she’s ever written. This storyline is a surprise because it doesn’t really develop a romance. I know it is the first in a series, but it wasn’t a romance or a mystery. I look forward to the next book to see where this story is going.

Meh... I own ALL of Jude Deveraux’s books and have been purchasing digital copies to downsize. Love her time travel romances but this missed it’s mark. Abrupt ending hits you like a bucket of cold water, similar to her Medlar Mysteries. Go back to Montgomery/Taggert descendents with snippets of previous characters...

Not what I wanted nor expected. I get that it’s going to be a series but it ended terribly.
  • Rambling and disapointing

I love Jude Deveroux, this is a huge disappointment. Rambling pages and pages of unnecessary dialogue with and ending that rambles to the bitter end without a decent end. Waste of time and money.

This book was okay, but ends rather abruptly and not at all finished. I can see they’re planning a series. It wasn’t classic Devereaux that I prefer, but what there was of it was fairly good. It seems like this other writer is using Jude’s name to try to build her audience. I gave it such a low rating because it ends so abruptly. I actually flipped back several pages more than once to make sure I hadn’t missed something when I got to the Epilogue. Also, 1 Corinthians 6:3 says we will judge angels not be judged by them. 1 Corinthians 6:3 KJV 1900 3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

Love the story, but is there a next to finish it? Can’t wait to read it if there will be.
