Nomi Hannon is down but not out, determined to put her life back together after a career-ending mishap. Running for city council is a step in the right direction. Too bad she just accidentally starred in a compromising photo that her squeaky-clean opponent is all too willing to use against her. Marrying the guy in the photo—her best friend, the only stable force in her life—will solve the problem. Right?

Malone DuMar's not looking for a wife, not after his ex-fiancée stole his company. But Nomi is the one person he can count on. There's no way he's going to turn his back on her when she needs him most.

It's a simple plan. Only pretend. That's the deal…until the kiss that changes everything…

The storyline and plot are on point but the characters and writing are lacking severely. The MC is fine, a little naive at times but I can overlook that, but her “married husband” is a true piece of work. The author keeps going on about how this guy is a good guy but yet he’s terrible. He ignores and ghosts her for days just because he’s not man enough to talk about his feelings, and this happens multiple times. Spoiler alert# he even manipulates her into quitting going after her own dream to run for council at the end all because he’s a big baby and unable to admit he has issues. I will not be reading anything from this author again if this is what she thinks a “good guy” actually is.

The story is fun, but the writing is what sets this one apart. The author is incredibly witty. I felt like I was in the middle of a romcom.

I bought this book because I have loved other books by the author. I cannot believe she wrote this book. It dragged and babbled and was awful. I forced myself to finish it waiting for it to be improve, for the characters to have some sass. It never happened. Don’t waste your time or money.

This book was a bit different in terms of storyline. Characters were good. Some of the background story seemed to be introduced at odd times but generally came together at the end. This is the first story that I have read from this author so it may be more of a writing style overall, the book came together and I did enjoy reading it.

It was ok. Sweet and kind of quirky. I wouldn’t read it twice though. It was lacking in some areas but not a bad read.
