Description

This new stand-alone hockey romance is an instant USA Today bestseller!

There’s this girl...
Heidi and I have been trading hungry looks all year, and everything she does makes me smile. But I don't do girlfriends, and I certainly can't get involved with the league commissioner's daughter. I need shots on goal, not a hookup and a widely misunderstood paparazzi photo.
Can I resist her, though? The way she teases me should be a game penalty for interference with my libido.

There’s this guy…
Jason wants me, but he won’t admit it. That man looks at me the way a hockey player eyes the lunch buffet after practice—and I love it.
But when victory is finally within my grasp, I blow it and humiliate myself. Even then I can’t even avoid him—as the team intern, I’m in constant view of his hard body and cocky smile.
I need another chance. Jason Castro is about to learn the true meaning of an overnight sensation.

Spectacular! Five plus stars if you love sports romance with an incredibly hot steamy alpha hockey player Jason Castro and a sexy beautiful intern who happens to be the commissioner’s daughter Heidi Jo Pepper this book is for you especially if you like peanut butter and strawberry jelly sandwiches. The author story is funny, passionate, and will make you laugh and cry. I can’t wait to read it again as two star crossed lovers stumble through their personal hang ups to find each other.

4.5☆ Overnight Sensation was great! It was highly entertaining, making me laugh a lot. I just love all these hockey guys, they're great! Jason is a good guy but has a ghost from his past that keeps haunting him and holding him back. I feel for him, but after a while he did get frustrating by how he was handling everything. He needed a swift kick in the rear. Other than that I loved him as a character, he's a hoot! Heidi is an interesting girl. She can be spoiled at times but she grows to be more than that throughout the book. She becomes a strong, determined girl with a good head on her shoulders. She is also quite entertaining, especially with all the jobs she has to do. I felt bad for her and how her dad treats her, he's a bit of a jerk. Even when things weren't going her way she kept her head held high and exceeded expectations. I enjoyed her and Jason's relationship, the start of it was hilarious! I loved Silas in this book and can't wait for him to get his own book, I think it's about time he got one! I also really enjoyed Bayer and am hoping to see more of him in the future.

This series just keeps getting better and better (but still not quite as good as Brooklynaire!) I just love this series. And I'm not even a hockey fan. But I think that I could be after reading this series. I just love a good romance story with a strong presence, story line and characters. I've been vested in the Brooklyn Bruisers series since day one. It is nice to finally see Jason Castro get his story. And who better to peek his interest then the hockey commissioner's own daughter, Heidi. Heidi is a great character. Introduced previously as the interim intern at the Bruisers, she has come into her own in this story. Her father, upset with her deciding not to return and finish college, has decided to make life increasingly difficult on Heidi by insisting that her internship feature each and every job within the hockey organization - from janitorial, to security and even ice management. Heidi has a great attitude with the whole thing and refuses to let it get to her or to let her father win. And Jason - well he is a self described manwhore and not ashamed to admit it. But he changes his ways and redeems himself with Heidi. I just love this series and this story was fabulous. A quick read, I was sorry to finish it as quickly as I did. I need to learn to stretch these things out and enjoy them more. I highly recommend the series and Overnight Sensation.
  • Heartfelt Addition to the Series

I don't think I will ever tire of Sarina Bowen's Brooklyn Bruisers series! I have enjoyed every single book (though I don't think anyone will ever top Nate in my heart *swoon*) and her writing is always sexy, fun, and heartfelt. Though this is book 5 in the series, this slightly forbidden/friends to lovers-ish romance can be enjoyed as a standalone. Characters from the previous books do appear, however, and that is where our hero and heroine initially meet. Oh, Castro. My heart totally went out to him and his broken soul. He was such a cuddly teddy bear under all the bluster and dirty talk. His insecurities and fears made so much sense once his past was revealed and I ached for the 18 year old boy he once was. Heidi came across naive and flighty at first, but she had the greatest character growth and really came into her own through the course of the book. I loved how she faced every new job and challenge and didn't back down. She complemented Castro really well and I loved their banter and chemistry. There is some angst and push and pull as they struggle with their feelings and budding relationship, but I liked that it was resolved almost as quickly as it began. It really let the growth of each character really shine. I did feel like things with Heidi's father wrapped up a little abruptly (considering how hard and critical he was throughout the book), and I would have loved an epilogue a little down the road. Some seeds were planted for sweet goalie Silas, however, and I really hope that we get his book in the future. If that happens, I have a feeling he will give my beloved Nate a run for his money! *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book*
