Description

One blizzard. Two opposites. A whole lot of time under the mistletoe.

Josh Carson has a secret. As a firefighter he’s comfortable being sent in to save forests and wildlife, but in his spare time he creates delicate hair ribbons that are anything but masculine. When he finds Simone snowed in on Nymph Island--and she’d rather freeze than be saved by Mr. Tough Guy--he realizes that the only way to win her over and get her to safety is to take a risk and reveal his true self.

Simone Pascal loves being independent and self-reliant--she's never needed a man to save her, and yet she keeps falling into Josh’s arms at every turn, wanting him to rescue her. The worst part? She likes it. A lot. Which is a big problem since she’s rearranged her entire life to take on a new project—a baby via a sperm donor. Her life plans most definitely do not include anything as unpredictable as falling in love with Mr. Macho Firefighter, but that seems to be exactly what she’s doing.

Will the two come to terms with their true selves in time to snag their happily ever after? Or will they be spending Christmas cold and alone? Find out! Start reading today!

I was fully prepared to love this story— strong-willed business woman who wants a child but can’t slow down to smell the roses, small town firefighter with a passion for creative arts, family, and kids, and a snowed in together plot. It let me down a lot, though. There are way too many characters taking main speaking/plot driving roles, leaving me confused about who I’m supposed to care about and who is even related to who. Any points of tension (like a planned proposal, or a secret pregnancy) get solved quickly and without holding my interest. The business woman comes across as petty, ignorant, and mean rather than strong, flawed, and snarky. There’s too much yelling and dialogue overall, not enough action or subtle emotion. And, at multiple points, the firefighter is assumed to be gay JUST BECAUSE HE MAKES HAIR BOWS FOR CHILDREN IN THE HOSPITAL AS A HOBBY and TELLS A FRIEND’S LITTLE GIRL A STORY. Hobbies have nothing to do with ones sexuality, caring for children isn’t just for women, and designing accessories isn’t a gendered hobby anyways?? I read 75% of the story before I’d had enough and gave up waiting for it to get better. I don’t even care how it ends. 2 stars because it is a grammatical and full-fleshed out novel with interesting characters even though I hate them.

A smokejumper falls in love and patiently waits for her to wake up to their bond. This is a sweet romance. In the midst of loving young couples who are building families, these two realize their own dreams.

Great story. I loved the Summer sisters and was glad their best friend Simone got a story too. Simone is strong, hardworking, successful business woman with a big heart. There’s nothing she wouldn’t do for a friend in need. Though lately, Simone has not found her life as fulfilling as she once did. She’s always pushed to be the best in attempts to obtain her father’s approval but Simone hasn’t stopped to ask herself what she really wants. Now with all the new changes to her friends lives Simone’s perspective is different. She’s suddenly questioning and reprioritizing her life. Destiny decides to step in and send Josh her way. When they meet sparks fly. Josh is a perfect match for Simone but will she be able to push pass her own insecurities to truly give them a chance? At times I found myself getting a little frustrated with Simone but I get why she acted the way she did at times. I still really liked her. I loved Josh. He is an awesome character. He’s strong, protective and has a very big heart. I adored what he does secretly to bring a little bit of happiness into the lives of others. This book is a wonderful ending to a great series.(4.5⭐️)

'Love and Mistletoe' (The Summer Sisters Book 5) by Jean Oram is a fantastic read! This is an awesome addition to this series! I loved reading about Simone and Josh. It was also awesome catching up with Hailey and Finian, Maya and Conner, Melanie and Tristen, Daphne and Evander, Tigger, and Dot. As always Tigger is a trip! I hope there is more to come from this group of highly entertaining characters! Highly recommend to all fans of romance, and close families.
