Lexi has done it again. This is the first book of a new series, but with some of the characters that we already know. We caught a little glimpse of Nix and Max together in Sam and Lexi's book, so I was really excited to see where this went. Even though we 'knew' Nix from previous books, there was a lot about her that we didn't know. Everyone has their own hang-ups and pasts that they want to forget, but sometimes it seems like we are doomed to re-live those times we would rather forget ever happened. After everything that happened with Hanna, Max is finally ready to move on with his life and 'date' again. One night of passion with the hot Doc was enough for him to realize that he wanted more with her, but unfortunately, Nix is running scared. She avoids relationships because she has been badly hurt in the past, which she never talks about with anyone in New Hope. Does Max just have a savior complex or do his feelings for Nix go deeper? Can Nix let go of her past and move on with one of the good guys? There are a lot of twists and turns in this book that kept me on the edge of my seat for the majority of the book, but that's what makes Lexi's writing so AMAZING. She draws you in and doesn't let go of you until you read that last page. I would definitely recommend this new series to anyone that has ever read any of her New Hope books. You will NOT be disappointed! **I was lucky enough to win a Complimentary Copy of the book, provided by the Author for an honest review AND I bought it!**

All I can say is WOW! Just when I think Lexi Ryan can't top her last book...she goes and does it AGAIN! Max and Nix's story had me on the edge of my chair most pages while I was trying to put together the pieces of the story. This story was so compelling I whined when I had to put the book down to attend to my real life. I felt this story was told so well that I could see it coming to life in my mind while reading it. Great Book and Incredible Author!!! I don't give spoilers as I don't like being told the story before I have had a chance to read it. All I can say is hurry and order this book ASAP! So good I didn't want it to end. Now I sit impatiently for Lexi Ryan's next book......... Patricia Greco

Playing with fire is the first book in Lexi Ryan's series Mended Hearts. It definitely starts out blazing. It is a stand alone book, but she has characters from her New Hope series, and it's written where you do it need to read the other books, but why wouldn't you?! They are all incredible as well as Playing With Fire. I recommend you read them as well. This is Max's and Doc Phoenix's story. Nix has a lot of hidden secrets keeping her from having any kind of relationship. But Max is making it hard for her to keep that from happening. I like how the characters comes and go from the New Hope series. I still love William! The all play a role in the book, and we are introduced more with Cade, who it appears his story is next. Nix's past has come back to haunt her. Demons she thought were gone, are once again keeping her closed off to the one man that loves her. I admit it was a very thrilling and romantic book that keeps you engaged during the whole story. I enjoy very much a book that has twists and turns and keeps you guessing. The love story of Max and Nix is very real, and had me rooting for Max the whole story through. A very lovable, hot and sexy thrilling ride. Already can't wait until the next story in is series. Thank you Lexi!
